There are several ways to make an appointment. You can call me at 914-886-2090, email me at maddysmaymft@gmail.com or fill out a contact form through the tab on the menu above. Please provide your name, contact information, and a short description about why you are interested in therapy.
How long are sessions?
A “therapy hour” is usually 50 minutes in length.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
It depends. Progress is rarely linear. I believe in a collaborative approach in which we establish goals and continually assess your progress in order to have therapy be as brief as possible.
How often do I need to come?
It’s up to the client. Most clients come weekly but only the client can decide what feels best for them. Sometimes twice a week feels necessary while others feel ever other week is useful. Once goals begin to be reached, frequency of appointments is gradually decreased until the client feels ready to end therapy for the time being.
What types of clients do you see?
I see a wide variety of clients who present with a range of different goals. Even the most independent and self-sufficient clients find it beneficial to have a safe space to work collaboratively with someone who is objective.
What if I have to cancel an appointment?
Life happens! If you need to cancel an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice prior to your therapy session in order to avoid being charged for the missed appointment.
What is sex therapy?
Sex therapy is simply a common type of psychotherapy. It may be implemented in individual or relationship therapy. There are many misconceptions about sex therapy, but there are NO exams, NO nudity, and NO sexual touching between therapist and client. Sex therapy may be helpful for any individual or couple. Some common topics addressed in sex therapy include: hopes of increasing desire, intimacy, and physical connection, exploration with sexuality or gender identity, processing sexual trauma, and dealing with difficulty around sexual communication.
